INTREC were engaged by JLL on behalf of KU Children’s Services to undertake the construction of a new two-storey childcare facility on Hampstead Road in Maidstone. The new childcare centre is a licenced 84-place facility that will enable KU Children’s Services to continue to provide world-class childcare across the Eastern seaboard of Australia.
Project works comprised of the construction of a new building including post-tensioned concrete slabs, precast panels, structural steel work, vertical transport, indoor and outdoor play spaces, trafficable internal skylights, commercial kitchen, bespoke joinery, operable wall, major landscaping, acoustic fencing, services and onsite parking.
The construction area was surrounded by existing housing and fronted a busy main road which required major traffic management road shutdowns to allow material deliveries. Safe access to site from the main road for our trade partners was extremely difficult. The underpinning of neighbouring properties, allowing for the safe construction of the building was another significant risk.
INTREC worked with VicRoads on traffic management plans and permits for the works. Our team communicated with the neighbouring properties to minimise risk, including renting a property next door to allow for crane lifts. The underpinning/protection notices for our boundary works were also carried out, ensuring the project was successfully delivered.
We are proud to have worked alongside the JLL and KU Project Teams to create a facility that successfully benefits the wider community.
