Caulfield Grammar School engaged INTREC to deliver the Stage 1 works of their Sporting Precinct Upgrade at their Wheelers Hill campus.
Stage 1 works required supply and installation services for multiple individual portions around the oval. These were comprised of Light Towers, Goal Nets and two Coaches Boxes, which were constructed on ground and lifted in place. Associated platform works were also undertaken, as well as electrical works such as wiring and controls.
Given the recommencement of campus operations in early 2021, the live surrounding environment posed a potential risk, working within close proximity to children and an active sporting oval. Additionally, 400m of trenching was required to be excavated and simultaneously backfilled to avoid hazards to staff and students.
The goal netting and light poles were required to be lifted from a significant distance to avoid plant access on the oval. This required us to re-examine our lifting plans and locations for crane set up.
By re-sequencing the programme and Building the coaches boxes on the ground, INTREC were able to avoid working at heights and eliminate the need to work on the oval with plant equipment.
A high level of professionalism was exhibited by the extended INTREC delivery team within the complex live environment.
