UoN’s Newcastle Institute for Energy and Resources (NIER) precinct supports leading research, innovation and industry collaboration across energy and resources. To maintain the performance and integrity of these important research facilities, the University engaged INTREC to undertake roofing, waterproofing and associated remediation works across the NIER buildings. The works focused on improving long-term weatherproofing and moisture management, addressing deteriorated building elements and upgrading roof drainage and access systems. Delivered within an operational university environment, the project required careful planning and coordination to maintain safe access and minimise disruption to ongoing research and facility operations.
INTREC completed roofing and remediation works across the NIER buildings, including replacement of roof sheeting, cappings, flashings, gutters, downpipes and penetration seals. Works also included waterproofing repairs, replacement of deteriorated plant decks and expansion joints, concrete and parapet repairs, drainage modifications, and installation of compliant roof access and safety systems.
INTREC coordinated all specialist trades, inspections and certification requirements while managing University-specific permits, inductions and disruption notices within the operational precinct.
