Oz Education Glendale Early Learning Centre is a new childcare development located near Newcastle CBD. The project involved the construction of two level building, featuring a complete internal fitout and extensive external works, including a playground and car park.
Project works involved demolishing two existing lots to construct a new childcare centre. The external works included a new driveway, a car park, shared zones, outdoor landscaping, on-site detention, and rainwater tanks.
INTREC carried out the complete bulk excavation of earthworks and the placement of bulk fill to achieve the required design substrate level.
INTREC also undertook the detailed excavation and backfill of the On-Site Detention (OSD) tank, ensuring precise alignment with the project specifications. Additionally, INTREC which were critical to the structural stability of the building’s foundation. The civil works were finalised with a concrete pour, completing the foundation phase and setting the groundwork for the subsequent stages of construction.
The landscaping works feature three sand pits, six shade sail areas, wet pour rubber soft fall, synthetic turf, acoustically designed boundary fencing, and playground equipment.
The internal works included a foyer and reception area, six activity rooms, cot rooms, bathrooms, a commercial kitchen with trade waste and grease arrestor, administration space, a staff room, storage facilities, and a laundry.
Key project risks included managing logisitics due to the site’s location on a six-lane main road, upgrading the Ausgrid infrastructure, constructing acoustically designed boundary fencing, interfacing with neighbouring construction site with limited space for materials handling and storage, and building in a BAL (Bushfire Attack Level) rated area.
INTREC collaborated closely with client to secure the necessary approvals for the demolition phase, ensuring smooth project progression.
