INTREC were engaged by La Trobe University (LTU) to complete the redevelopment of Level 1 of the Health Sciences 1 (HS1) Building at its Bundoora Melbourne Campus.
The project commenced with a demolition of the entire Ground Floor in preparation for the internal fitout of both the GP Clinic (Stage 1) and the Telehealth Facility (Stage 2).
The GP Clinic works involved a main switchboard upgrade for the whole building, all new services and complete fitout including 6 consult rooms, a treatment room, pathology and spaces for staff and patients. The Telehealth Facility works involved a complete fit out of 10 Telehealth consult spaces, a teaching space, amenity upgrades, plus student lounge, kitchenette and study spaces. New entrances were constructed for both stages, comprising significant structural and architectural detailing.
The Practical Completion date for the Stage 1 programme was pushed forward to achieve handover prior to Christmas. The strict deadlines involved accelerated procurement of the main and mechanical switchboards, requiring coordination by INTREC’s site team to manage a 7 day programme, running double shifts.
INTREC achieved the desired handover dates, allowing LTU tenants to relocate into the GP Clinic as required. All works were completed with minimal disruptions to University operations.
