RMIT engaged INTREC to undertake a fitout and refurbishment of existing office spaces alongside the creation of a brand-new purpose-built PC2 laboratory, facilitating research into future low energy electronics, technologies, quantum computation and communications technologies. The laboratory component of the project was to meet stringent atmospheric pressure requirements. Specialised equipment in the laboratory included: fume cupboards, laboratory gases, Nederman arms, DI water, chemical resistant vinyl, alarmed doors, air tight sliding doors, dark room emergency light fittings, lazerproof curtains and extensive BMS integration.
Demolition of existing office space included walls, partitions, furniture and mechanical ducts. Supply and installation of walls, ceilings, doors, electrical, hydraulic, mechanical services, laboratory gas plumbing, new furniture, joinery, vinyl flooring, whiteboards, audio visual, fume cupboards and data cabling.
