This project required a refresh to RMIT University’s existing Building 223, Module E laboratories. The labs were fitted with new services and joinery to meet new user requirements, and to maintain PC2 certification.
Demolition works were carried out to the ceilings and joinery to accommodate the changes, and make way for new mechanical units to improve the negative pressure requirements. Architectural improvements included: new overbench shelving which was added to increase the shelf storage, cornices to reduce maintenance, and new access hatches to improve the negative pressure requirements.
Services upgrades included: a changeover of existing mechanical units, additional exhaust systems, and new power and data points.
