After successfully completing the first stage of the Northern Health Imaging & Pathology Building works at Northern Hospital Epping in January 2024, INTREC was then engaged to complete the final and most critical phase of the PET Scanner project at the hospital.
The works involved navigating a live and critical environment where new structural footings, steel, and extensive services were constructed. This was followed by a detailed lead shielding process, radiation testing, and the sign-off process.
Before installing the PET scanner machine into the space, the project team completed heavy protection works and collaborated with the hospital engineering team to integrate the new services with the existing infrastructure.
Our team successfully overcame the challenge of constructing two ceilings. This involved building a lead ceiling with structural support around the new and existing structure and services, followed by a second ceiling.
INTREC worked within a tight timeframe to allow the specialist contractor Siemens to install the PET Scan machine, enabling the hospital to go live for new patients.
