As part of Sunbury Primary School’s long term vision for promoting academic growth, INTREC were engaged by PMDL to deliver a new Multipurpose STEM Building and new Canteen and Library Building at Sunbury Primary School.
To make way for the construction of two new single-storey buildings, the existing hall and atrium frame buildings were demolished. The project included external works associated with both
new buildings which included civil maintenance works. Minor internal refurbishment and maintenance works were also required to several existing heritage buildings onsite, as well as the installation of new site services to suit the new buildings.
During the early stages of our onsite works, a short 5-day COVID-19 lockdown and a series of latent conditions including contaminated soil, termite damage and odour to multiple buildings, proved to be significant challenges to project delivery.
Through the implementation of various re-design strategies and effective site communication, our Project Team successfully mitigated the latent conditions. Both new buildings were successfully
handed over, providing aesthetic learning spaces for students and supporting academic growth.
