Opal HealthCare provides specialist aged care services for a range of needs, including memory and respite care with over 136 residential aged care communities across Australia.

INTREC successfully delivered the internal refurbishment works at Opal Healthcare Mornington Bay Community. The project included extensive updates to the existing Residential Aged Care Facility, enhancing spaces such as the reception, nurses’ stations, bar, hairdresser, café, dining areas, and tea stations and total roof replacement. As part of the refurbishment, INTREC upgraded 140 bedrooms, which involved a complete strip-out and refit of the ensuites, including the installation of new mechanical ducted exhaust systems. Additionally, the team undertook a full re-roofing of the entire facility, covering an area of 8,500 square meters. INTREC worked with Opal and the consultant team leading the design stage and providing extensive cost planning, staging, programming options and design leadership.

Remaining an operational facility throughout these works meant placing particular focus on ensuring the safety and quiet enjoyment of residents, staff, and visitors. INTREC successfully completed the re-roofing of the entire facility in a staged manner, involving the daily relocation of residents and staff to facilitate the roof works. Our team maintained a high level of professionalism, interacting with residents daily to ensure minimal disruption in the live environment.
