As part of their commitment to meet the needs of readers and visitors now and into the future, the State Library of NSW undertook a major contemporary transformation of its Macquarie Street building. INTREC was engaged to refurbish the Ground Floor and Bashir Reading Rooms, delivering enhanced spaces for people to relax, study, explore, and socialise. The scope included the transformation of the entrance foyer and constructing a new cafe with indoor and outdoor seating, a high-end commercial kitchen, a new bookshop, multiple study and meeting rooms, and amenities across 3,600 m² over three floors, delivered concurrently. Premium finishes we installed including feature specialist timber panels, terrazzo floors, and aged bronze fittings.
