INTREC was engaged by UNSW to deliver Stage 1 of its ambitious campus-wide electrification program, commencing with the Colleges Precinct. This initiative aimed to transition multiple student accommodation buildings from natural gas to electric infrastructure, aligning with UNSW’s sustainability and decarbonisation commitments. The project involved high-impact upgrades delivered in a live environment, with careful planning to minimise disruption to over 1,000 student residents. The works involved waterproofing upgrades to plant room areas across multiple locations, incorporating the installation of new membrane systems. The project involved the complete decommissioning and removal of redundant gas infrastructure across 13 locations on the University’s campuses.
