INTREC was awarded the Willoughby City Council (WCC) Victor Street Office Refurbishment project. This project encompassed the revitalisation of Levels 4 and 5, along with activating the Level 4 external terrace. Additionally, a light refurbishment was undertaken on the western side of Level 6, while the eastern side was converted into a “warm shell” facilitating an independent metered Distribution Board and a dedicated Fibre Connection and Comms Room.

The project involved the complete demolition of the space on floors 4 and 5 to a cold shell, followed by a transformation into a modern open-space office. Across these levels, amenities include two kitchens, meeting rooms, offices, open-plan workspaces, and restrooms. The project entailed modifying, upgrading, and installing new building services to accommodate the new office layout. Mechanical Base Build Remediation and Upgrade Works were also executed, alongside minor lift cart modifications for DDA compliance. In support of the council’s green initiatives, INTREC ensured proper separation of demolition and construction waste while salvaging ceiling hangers and workstations for reuse throughout the fitout.

Our team faced significant challenges during the minor relocation of the communications room due to the complex integration of new and existing network infrastructure. Ensuring operational continuity was crucial to avoid outages that could disrupt the council’s security systems, as this room served as a network hub for the CBD of Chatswood.

Being in a Highrise Class 2 building, noisy work and demolition had to be scheduled within specific timeframes to minimise disturbance to residents. Access was also limited by the size of the goods lifts, which we managed by arranging late-night deliveries and using public access routes outside standard business hours.

The INTREC team successfully delivered a sophisticated and modern, open-layout workspace tailored to foster collaboration and productivity. The Stage 1 scope on levels 4 and 5 was completed within a 13-week program, with significant workloads coordinated in a tight timeframe. The client was extremely happy with INTREC’s performance from establishment to handover.
