The Opportunity – Estimating Cadet

It’s all hands-on deck at INTREC. We’re busy, we’re growing, and we’re looking for an Estimating Cadet who is passionate about pursuing a long-term career in construction. You’ll be supported by an experienced team and gain exposure to the full tendering process across a wide range of commercial construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with cost estimates for small, medium, and large projects
  • Calling subcontractors to request interest in pricing trade works
  • Obtaining quotes from subcontractors and suppliers
  • Preparing and issuing tender packages
  • Taking and issuing minutes during Bid Team and Tender Strategy meetings
  • Managing Tender RFIs and responding to queries
  • Formatting, printing and binding high-quality submissions
  • Establishing and maintaining Bid Action Plans
  • Updating and managing Bid & Strategy documentation
  • Preparing and measuring a bill of quantities (BOQ)
  • Attending site inspections to establish site conditions

What We’re Looking For 

  • Someone currently studying or a recent graduate of a construction-related degree OR
    A minimum of 12 months’ experience in the construction industry (on the tools or in an office role with a head contractor or subcontractor) — all experience is valued
  • A genuine interest in pursuing a career in Estimating
  • Focused, enthusiastic, and eager to learn
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Open to learning and comfortable taking on new challenges
