Schools Infrastructure NSW (SINSW) is currently conducting $6 Billion worth of upgrades across NSW Schools. This funding is set to deliver 170 new, and upgraded schools, inclusive of the new build project currently underway at Prestons Public School.
INTREC is proud to be the Head contractor on this project. Our knowledgeable team is managing the construction process to ultimately deliver contemporary and innovative structures, for the school to utilise for learning and teaching into the future.
These projects are notably led by a female-driven team. Included in this dynamic team are four experienced and skilful INTREC women, taking on the roles of Project Manager, Contracts Administrator, Design Manager and Compliance Manager. Throughout the construction process at Prestons Public School, our team have worked closely with the client-side Project Manager.
Representing GHD as the client-side Project Manager, Melissa Stojanovic has been working collaboratively with our team at Prestons Public School. Melissa believes that “diversity brings strength to stakeholder engagement; this role requires ongoing communications with the client, working collaboratively to fully understand their requirements and establish a strong connection to achieve the best project outcome.”
Melissa was initially introduced to SINSW projects in 2017, when GHDWoodhead, the architecture leg of GHD, was engaged to work on a large 7-Schools package in Sydney’s Northwest, cementing her understanding of SINSW’s vision for Sydney’s future learning environments.
Melissa has been enjoying working on this project with our INTREC team, stating that, “The team are dedicated, enthusiastic and collaborative. I’m having so much fun on the Prestons project, working with a team who loves construction as much as I do.”
This project commenced in March 2019 and consists of a new build structure that will facilitate 10 new airconditioned classrooms, as well as an extended hall, administration facilities and new library façade.
INTREC’s Group Projects Director, Brendan Forde echoes this sentiment.
“Our Preston’s Public School Team has demonstrated an extremely professional approach to the delivery of what will be an invaluable asset to the school and the wider community for decades to come. What is more pleasing, from my own perspective, is to see the dynamic environment created by a very vibrant and diverse INTREC Delivery team, hand in glove with the Client-Side Project Manager (GHD), the SINSW Delivery teams, the School Principal and wider faculties.
GHD has been a pleasure to work with, helping our INTREC team to ensure the delivery of a quality project within budget and most importantly in a safe manner. Melissa, Evelyn and the team have ensured that all elements of the project align with the needs of the client, providing solutions and sporting a strong dedication to the project outcome. It is so satisfying to see the goodwill being generated when all stakeholders work together seamlessly to achieve common goals,” he said
Stay tuned over the coming weeks as INTREC shines a spotlight on the Prestons Public School project, as well as other projects we have been conducting for Schools Infrastructure and the fantastic team involved.
