INTREC is the head contractor in the major Thermal, LED and Solar PV (TLS) upgrade which is currently being installed across the University of Wollongong campus.
Following the successful delivery of the Stage 1TLS project, INTREC are well underway with the delivery of Stage 2 and have completed the delivery of two solar PV projects and two LED projects. Our team has progressed through the design phase of the three thermal projects which are now all in the procurement phase.
Stage 1 of this TLS upgrade was completed from November 2018 through to mid 2019. Our early contractor involvement in Stage 1 gave our team a vast knowledge of the scope of the project and the daily operations of the University campus.
The new TLS system is set to generate approximately 1 million kilowatt-hours per hour in renewable energy, reducing the University’s energy consumption and electricity expenses.
Spanning from one side of the campus to the other, the upgrade includes the installation of solar panels on 16 buildings and LED lighting in 13 buildings.
During Stage 1 of this TLS upgrade, solar panels were installed on Buildings 3, 6, 13, 21, 25, 39 and 67, and during Stage 2, solar panels were installed on Buildings 1, 4, 9, 24, 30, 32, 36, 40, 43 and 70.
This TLS upgrade is a long-term investment into a more sustainable future at the University of Wollongong. “UOW is on track to meet its target to reduce energy consumption by 20 percent before 2035.”
Our team is attending the TEMC 2019 Event held from the 29th September – 2nd October at the Adelaide Convention Centre. If you are attending, we encourage you to drop by our stall and learn more about our Sustainability capabilities and Tertiary Education experience.
