INTREC completed the fitout of the Roads and Maritime Services new ABW office located in New Castle. Roads and Martime Service are the delivery agency within the transport cluster, responsibilities involve setting strategic direction and guiding an extended network of public and private service to improve transport outcomes. The project comprised of refurbishing ABW New Castle’s office with feature designs, installations and 500 odd data on each floor, being fed from below the works had to be completed at night, as each of the ceiling panels were removed and reinstated every night to complete the installation flawlessly.

The 3600m2 project was carried out over 2 floors and was completed in a swift 6 weeks. This project included the installation of new flooring and ceilings throughout both levels 7 and 8. The interior fitout comprised of appealing feature rope walls, electronic operable walls and glazing, whilst an upgrade of mechanical/electrical/hydraulic and audio visual services were fitted amongst the offices and open space layout. Feature ceilings and perforated ceilings as well as a feature pendant were installed as per the design plan. Extensive AV package including VC and interactive White boards were fitted in common areas.

The feature rope walls were made from the same thick rope used on wharfs, the stylish feature wall complimented the nautical theme; given the proximity to the coast. These walls were designed in a manner to provide a ‘aesthetical’ feel whist also proving to be a functional partition. The design features embraced key elements, portrayed throughout levels 7 and 8. The mechanical component of the project consisted of the 10 supplementary mechanical units installed. The early completion of the comms rooms were exceptional on INTREC’s part.

The project was developed in a live environment,  2 call centers had to operated out of the building to ensure no disturbance to the facility. Out of work hours and double shifts were entailed by the workers to guarantee the project was completed on time and to an exceptional standard. Completing the fitout on a 6 week schedule proved achievable.
